In early 1990, two discussion groups were started by Catherine Fahringer and Beni T. Dean. The groups had mixed success but together were able to adopt a set of Rules & Bylaws on September 17, 1990. This was the official beginning of the Secular Humanist Association of San Antonio. Then, in January of 1999, the membership elected to change the name to the Freethinkers Association of Central Texas (FACT). |

FACT provides an environment in which critical thinking
individuals can freely share their beliefs, thoughts and experiences.
We do this through a
series of informative meetings, for which we bring in guest
speakers from a wide range of disciplines. Past topics have included

FACT Frequently Asked QuestionsComing soon. Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a
departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was

departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;'
the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to
comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the
Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination. — Thomas Jefferson
